Met Life Bank, subdivision of Met Life Insurance, N.A., has agreed to purchase First Horizon Home Loans. Tentatively set for September 1, 2008 is day 1 of Met Life Home Loans. I’m not going anywhere. Met Life Bank plans for us to be bigger than FHHL was ever during the refi boom.

The One O’Clock is currently touring Europe. When they get back, I’m going to contact Jiri about meeting for lessons every now and then. I met him at the Silverleaf a while back. We listen and love the same kind of stuff, and he seems like a fun cat to jam with. I’m really hoping that’ll help with the not-gigging-much problem I have.

I’m trying to make time for this. Based on what I’ve heard, I think you should too.

I love my Mean Green. I’d buy season tickets if I could. Can’t wait for Dodgeball season 2! I have high hopes.  We brought back DeLoach, who built a defense that peaked in 2002 with a top-10 unit statistically.  Dominated the Belt, sacked Chris Simms eight times.  I’m excited to see what he’ll do with a defense that has unproven playmakers but a lot more depth than back then.  I also met William Covert at the football banquet. He gave me a vinyl recently to convert to CD called Lab! 1969. Here is an excerpt from the Leon Breeden message on the back:

Since the beginning of the Lab Band program at North Texas as an official part of the School of Music in 1947 many small ensembles of widely diverse instrumentations have been presented during the concerts of the Lab Bands. This concert marks the first time that we have presented the “combos” in total concert separate from the big bands. After hearing this album we believe that you will agree that this plan should be continued!
Seven groups were selected from those auditioning. On this recording you will hear selections from five of these. Time limitations made it impossible to include all seven groups.
The informality of the evening was invigorating but caused a “little” problem in the fact that Mr. John Stewart, our recording engineer, had never heard a note of this concert and mixed the entire concert on first hearing - we think he did a terrific job. Two cases are heard where the performers were off mike and nothing could be done to help the situation; however the musicianship is evident in all cases.

Thanks to fellow Sinfonian Marco Gonzalez for helping with the digitization. It was not complicated, and I plan on getting the equipment myself soon as I can! It was fun. It features none other than long-time Late Show t-boner Tom “Bones” Malone. Small world: he was the last honorary member Gamma Theta initiated into Sinfonia while I was active. So cool that I got to play keys for that ceremony.

Revisiting Centro-Matic: first introduced at Slobberbone’s final show @ The Silverleaf, Will Johnson did a solo number I fell in love with. Ya’ll might recall this:

that was the first time I’d ever heard you guys play. Since then, I’ve bought two of your albums and plan for more. I was wondering about that show…

Will played a solo number that I believe he said he wrote just for that occasion; something in honor/remembrance of Brent and Slobbber-fuckin-bone.

Is that on any of the current Centro albums or Wills solo projects? if not, are there plans to get it out there?

Well, I got it. Ordered from amazon.co.uk! WJ played it solo electric in Denton. On the album it is on acoustic with Scott Danbom filling it up on violin. GO BUY IT NOW.

I have some emails to catch up on the next few days. There’s just not enough time! Most of the week I just come home and play the keys Probably enough to fake my way through most situations, be ahead of the teeners, and most likely short of impressing the pros. When the new ‘puter comes in pretty soon, I have big hopes to compose. I’m as excited as ever about music, and the inspiration is coming from everywhere. In the mean time, I should be returning more phone calls and catching up on emails. Where does the day go?
